Overview

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of candorbrief.com (the “Site”), including browsing the Site, contacting us, downloading CandorBrief Free, and purchasing CandorBrief Pro through the Site’s WooCommerce store.

These Terms cover use of the Site and the purchase of the CandorBrief plugin. They do not govern a customer’s separate WordPress site after the plugin is installed. That use is governed by the separate CandorBrief Plugin Terms of Use, which applies when the plugin is downloaded, installed, activated, or used. Each customer remains responsible for the WordPress installation, hosting, content, visitor communications, security, backups, and legal compliance of their own site.

By using the Site, downloading CandorBrief Free, or purchasing CandorBrief Pro, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Site.

1. Who We Are

candorbrief.com is operated by HighTechDad (“we,” “us,” “our”), the maker of CandorBrief. CandorBrief is a WordPress plugin that helps professionals publish a focused, candidate-controlled brief for hiring managers, and it is described in more detail on the Site.

2. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and post the revised version on the Site. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to purchase CandorBrief Pro. If you are using the Site on behalf of a company or organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

4. Site Content and Intellectual Property

The Site’s content, including text, graphics, logos, product names (“CandorBrief,” “CandorBrief Free,” “CandorBrief Pro”), and design, is owned by HighTechDad or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may view and use the Site for its intended purpose (learning about, downloading, or purchasing CandorBrief), but you may not copy, reproduce, republish, or create derivative works from the Site’s content without our prior written permission, except as permitted by CandorBrief’s own plugin license (see the Plugin Terms of Use).

5. Acceptable Use

When using the Site, you agree not to:

  • scrape, crawl, or use automated means to extract content beyond ordinary search-engine indexing
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site, its Licensing Server, or any related system
  • interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the Site’s infrastructure
  • circumvent, disable, or attempt to defeat CandorBrief Pro’s license activation or verification system
  • use the Site to violate any applicable law or the rights of others

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site, and revoke any associated license, if we reasonably believe you have violated this section.

6. CandorBrief Free

CandorBrief Free is downloaded through a $0 checkout on the Site’s WooCommerce store. That checkout collects your name, email address, and billing address to create the order. It requires no payment method and no account, and it does not create a CandorBrief Pro license. Once the order is placed, the CandorBrief Free download is available immediately, and a download link is also emailed to you. Your use of CandorBrief Free once installed is governed by the Plugin Terms of Use, not by a purchase agreement.

7. CandorBrief Pro: Purchase and License

CandorBrief Pro is a paid, downloadable add-on to CandorBrief Free, purchased through the Site’s WooCommerce store and processed by Stripe.

  • One license, one production site. A commercial CandorBrief Pro license grants a perpetual (non-expiring by default), one-production-site right to activate and use CandorBrief Pro, subject to these Terms and the Plugin Terms of Use.
  • One account per purchaser. Your purchase creates or links a WooCommerce customer account tied to your purchase email. Repeat purchases with the same verified email use the same account.
  • Delivery. Your CandorBrief Pro download and license key are delivered by email and made available through My Account → Downloads after your payment is confirmed.
  • License administration. Your license is administered by the CandorBrief Licensing Server, described in the Privacy Policy. We may reissue, disable, or revoke a license as described in that policy and in Section 8 below.
  • Site moves. If you need to move your license to a different production site, contact support; this is a support action, not an automatic self-service transfer in the current release.
  • No guarantee of future updates or support term. Your perpetual license lets you keep using the version of CandorBrief Pro you were entitled to. It does not, by itself, guarantee free lifetime updates, upgrades, or support; any separate maintenance, update, or support term will be described at the time it is offered and is not part of your original purchase unless stated otherwise.

8. Refunds

Refund requests are reviewed individually by our support team on a case-by-case basis. We do not guarantee a specific refund window or an automatic refund right. Approving a refund is at our discretion, taking into account factors like how long you’ve had access, whether the license has been used, and the circumstances of your request.

If we approve a refund, we will process it through Stripe/WooCommerce and revoke the associated CandorBrief Pro license. Revocation disables CandorBrief Pro going forward; it does not delete the profile or configuration data already stored in your own WordPress database, which remains yours to export or remove.

To request a refund, contact us using the information in Section 20.

9. License Restrictions

Except as expressly permitted by the Plugin Terms of Use, you agree not to:

  • share, sell, sublicense, or transfer your license key to another person or organization
  • activate a single CandorBrief Pro license on more than the number of production sites it was purchased for
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the CandorBrief Licensing Server’s private signing key or bypass its license verification, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law

10. CandorBrief Is AI-Free: What This Site and Product Do Not Do

CandorBrief, the plugin sold and described on this Site, does not call OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or any other AI service from within WordPress. It does not analyze, score, or make hiring recommendations. It assembles prompts that a hiring manager voluntarily copies into an AI tool of their own choosing. CandorBrief’s prompt guardrails are instructional only. We cannot control, verify, or guarantee the behavior of any third-party AI tool once a prompt leaves the plugin, and this Site and the CandorBrief product make no promise about the accuracy, fairness, or output of any external AI tool a visitor chooses to use.

11. Customer WordPress Sites

CandorBrief is software that a customer chooses to install on a WordPress site the customer owns or administers. HighTechDad does not host, operate, monitor, administer, secure, back up, or control that separate WordPress site or its content, except for the limited licensing and release-service requests described in the Privacy Policy and the Plugin Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for your WordPress core installation, themes, plugins, hosting, SSL and server configuration, administrator accounts, backups, email delivery, visitor-facing forms, profile content, privacy notices, consents, and compliance with laws that apply to your site or use of the plugin. You are also responsible for responding to security incidents, data requests, and other issues involving your site, except to the extent directly caused by HighTechDad’s own services and only as required by applicable law.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE, CANDORBRIEF FREE, AND CANDORBRIEF PRO ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE OR CANDORBRIEF WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR COMPATIBLE WITH EVERY WORDPRESS CONFIGURATION, HOSTING ENVIRONMENT, THEME, THIRD-PARTY PLUGIN, EMAIL PROVIDER, OR NETWORK. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT CANDORBRIEF WILL PREVENT SPAM, MALICIOUS ACTIVITY, UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, SECURITY INCIDENTS, OR DATA LOSS ON A CUSTOMER’S SITE. WE MAKE NO WARRANTY ABOUT ANY HIRING OUTCOME, RECRUITER RESPONSE, OR THIRD-PARTY AI OUTPUT PRODUCED FROM A COPIED PROMPT.

13. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, HIGHTECHDAD WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR CANDORBRIEF, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR A CANDORBRIEF PRO PURCHASE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold HighTechDad harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the Site, your violation of these Terms, or content you publish using CandorBrief that violates the rights of a third party.

15. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Site or revoke a CandorBrief Pro license if you materially violate these Terms, engage in fraud or abuse, or if required by law. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.

16. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to HighTechDad’s place of operation in the United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

If a dispute arises, we ask that you contact us first at the address in Section 20 so we can try to resolve it informally. Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable consumer protection rights you may have under the law of your own country or state of residence.

17. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full effect, and the unenforceable provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable.

18. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and, where applicable, the Plugin Terms of Use, constitute the entire agreement between you and HighTechDad regarding the Site and your purchase of CandorBrief Pro, and supersede any prior agreements on that subject.

19. Severable Products, Same Owner

CandorBrief is a HighTechDad product, offered alongside other HighTechDad products such as AppAudit. Except where explicitly stated, these Terms apply only to CandorBrief and candorbrief.com, not to other HighTechDad products or sites.
